dada house
This building has a composition in which a box-shaped space is supported on freestanding wooden pillars, like piloti. The second-floor box-shaped space uses a fixed wall-panel assembly comprising an axial timber frame and structural plywood. The client is a researcher on the topic of public art. The second floor office is a calm space, like a library surrounded by many books. By contrast, the first floor is a space that closely relates to the site. In order to act as a street-facing office and a gallery for public art, it has a concrete floor on which shoes may be worn. This is a space that belongs to the town. While having the casual feeling of a wooden building, I want people moving through it vertically to vividly experience the contrasting treatment of the structural walls of the upper space and the freestanding pillars of the lower space.。
